ARCHAEOLOGY CENTRE WORKSHOP

Practical Podcasting Skills for Archaeologists: A Workshop for Beginners

Instructor:
Matthew Walls
PhD Candidate - Department of Anthropology

Description: Podcasts are a useful medium through which archaeologists can present their research in a way that is both accessible and intelligible to a broad audience. In this workshop, participants will learn the basic technical skills necessary to develop a professional podcast that could be published on the internet. The workshop will be exercise based, and the objective for participants will be to use the editing resources at the Archaeology Centre to produce a simple 2:00 minute multi-media podcast about their archaeological research.

Enrolment: This free course is non-credit, and is available to archaeologists at any career stage across campus. As the capacity is limited, priority will be given to advanced students who are actively conducting research, but all are encouraged to apply. To register, please send an email by October 7, including your name, department, and program to archaeology@utoronto.ca.

Course Materials: The workshop will be taught in the Archaeology Centre and participants will develop their podcasts using the Centre's resources. This will include the editing computers with Adobe Creative Suite 5, video cameras, still cameras, and audio recording equipment. Participants will also be encouraged to practice using their own equipment if they have any.

Start Date: October 15
This workshop will run on Saturdays in AP 140, from 1-4pm. The workshop will meet for four sessions including:

Oct 15, Oct 22, Nov 5 & Nov 12.

Price: Free!
