Images of life in the Kalahari, especially of the !Kung (Ju/'hoansi) bushmen, have engaged the minds of anthropologists since the ground-breaking, interdisciplinary field work of the 1960's. On Sunday, June 24, 2012, the U of T Archaeology Centre will convene fieldworkers from those early days for a full day of mediated, recorded discussion about their work and its impact. How did the Harvard Kalahari Project achieve an unparalleled level of interdisciplinarity? Are there aspects of its impact that surprise the researchers themselves? How can be best document that world, now gone? What responsibilities do we hold for the communities with whom we engage? The event will immediately follow the biennial SAfA conference and will be held at the same venue. Please consider extending your stay in Toronto and attend the discussion of Kalahari Reflections. The day's discussion will be video recorded with the intention of producing a web-enabled, edited document that will be distributed, especially, to southern African colleagues and organizations. Admission will be free to all SAfA registrants.
